Users lacked access to intuitive tools for restoring aged or damaged photographs. Existing solutions were often complex and required specialized knowledge. There was a need for a comprehensive mobile application that combined multiple photo enhancement features.
User-Centric Design Approach: Conducted extensive user research to understand the needs of individuals seeking to restore and enhance their photographs. This informed the development of an intuitive interface that simplifies complex editing processes.
Integrated AI-Powered Tools: Collaborated with the development team to incorporate advanced AI functionalities, enabling features such as automatic image enhancement, colorization, and de-scratch capabilities, thereby reducing the manual effort required from users.
Streamlined Workflow: Designed a cohesive user journey that seamlessly integrates various features like 'Enhance Image,' 'Restore,' and 'Improve Clarity,' ensuring users can effortlessly navigate between tools to achieve desired results.
Camera Integration: Facilitated the inclusion of in-app camera functionality, enabling users to capture new photos directly within the app for immediate enhancement, thus providing a comprehensive solution for both new and existing images.
Reflection
Designing this product reinforced my understanding of balancing automation with user control. While AI can handle many enhancements, users still value personalization and manual adjustments, which I incorporated into the interface through adjustable sliders and easy undo options.
Additionally, working on this project highlighted the importance of clear affordances and visual hierarchy in guiding users through technical processes without overwhelming them. Through iterative prototyping and usability testing, I was able to refine the experience, ensuring that users could achieve high-quality photo enhancements effortlessly.
